In Common Sports

In Common Sports is a three-year project co-funded by the European Erasmus+ Sport programme aimed at people over 60 to promote active lifestyles by bringing them closer to and motivating them to practice sport.

The initiative involves 350 participants and sees the Municipality of Cesena as a member of a partnership composed of bodies and organisations from five EU member states. The goal is the development of effective strategies for the diffusion of healthy lifestyles among population groups that are less frequent exercisers, evaluating the motivational aspect as a lever for regular and continuous sports practice in old age.
The project involves a series of integrated actions: from research to the dissemination of good practices, from the promotion of training programmes to the organisation of sports competitions dedicated to the over-60s, open to intergenerational exchange.
The benefits of regularly conducted physical activity in the over 60s are studied and monitored by measuring physical and cognitive performance.

From 2021 the project continues with In Common Sport +: Fit, Food and Fun for Elderly! which combines adapted physical activity for this population group with the study of eating habits in order to prevent certain age-related physical problems and promote a healthy lifestyle.
