Urban Renewal and Wellness: Cesena station comes to life

5 February 2026

The area around Cesena railway station, particularly Piazzale Karl Marx, is at the heart of a major urban regeneration project that will transform its look and function. Once mainly used as a bus terminal, the space is set to become a place for socializing, events, and sports activities, serving as a true showcase for both residents and visitors arriving in the city.

Among the new features planned for the project, in addition to a large green area and a volleyball court, two public fitness zones will be installed, generously donated by Technogym, a symbol of Cesena’s excellence in the wellness sector. These state-of-the-art outdoor facilities are designed to be accessible to all ages and fitness levels, promoting movement, health, and inclusion in public spaces.

The donation, valued at over €250,000, also includes technical support for designing the layout of the areas and obtaining the necessary certification. This initiative marks another step in the ongoing collaboration between Technogym and the city of Cesena, further strengthening the city’s role as the heart of the Wellness Valley, the wellness district launched over 20 years ago by Nerio Alessandri.

In a few months, the entire station area will be returned to the city with a completely renewed look,” comment Mayor Enzo Lattuca and Sports Councillor Christian Castorri. “The project aims to create a lively and safe space, with a strong focus on socializing and sports practice. We thank Technogym for this gesture, which highlights the strategic importance of this area as a showcase for the city and a meeting point for residents, students, and visitors.”

With this transformation, Cesena’s station area will become a true hub of wellness and social life, where residents and visitors can move, train, and meet in a revitalized, green, and accessible setting.
