Promoting health through exercise: Wellness Foundation at AIE 2024
22 April 2024
On Friday, April 19, the Wellness Foundation delved into an atmosphere of knowledge and innovation at the Palazzo dei Congressi in Riccione, Italy, participating in the XLVIII National Congress of the Italian Association of Epidemiology (IEA) 2024: “Salute non sempre uguale: studiare e gestire differenze e variabilità per comprendere le interAzioni”.
More than 400 abstracts came to the attention of the organizers, reflecting the breadth and relevance of the topics discussed here. In response to this rich participation, 28 different parallel sessions were arranged, offering participants the opportunity to display and discuss their research findings and actively contribute to the scientific debate. As Wellness Foundation, we had the opportunity to present two of our initiatives contributing to the landscape of wellness and health promotion solutions.
We presented the “Chi si muove, si ama!” campaign, an initiative aimed at promoting physical activity and exercise as a means of improving quality of life and preventing chronic noncommunicable diseases. The campaign was launched in Romagna at the end of 2023 and extended to the entire region in 2024 and it has received the support of the Orders of Physicians and Pharmacists of Ravenna, Forlì-Cesena and Rimini, as well as other important institutions such as Agifar, AUSL Romagna and the Emilia-Romagna Region. Moreover, we shared a scientific poster on the booklet “Exercise is Medicine: a quick guide to exercise prescription“. This tool, created in collaboration with Technogym, a global partner of Exercise is Medicine, and THiNKactive, a research center of EuropeActive, is an initiative of the American College of Sports Medicine that was supported by the Research Centre for Sport Sciences department of King Juan Carlos University. The booklet was developed to provide support for health professionals in prescribing physical activity and offers evidence-based recommendations for various health conditions.
We hope that these initiatives will continue to inspire and motivate all of you to take care of your health, reminding you that “Chi si muove, si ama!” and that exercise is truly medicine for body and mind.
