Maratona Alzheimer: 6,500 people walking for rights and research
17 September 2025
On Sunday, 14 September, the March for Rights and the Alzheimer Half Marathon marked the conclusion of a week of events promoted by the Fondazione Maratona Alzheimer, as part of the World Alzheimer’s Month.
The event, which started in Cesena and finished at Parco di Levante in Cesenatico, brought together 6,500 walkers and runners, showing strong collective support for the rights of people living with dementia and for advancing research.
The March for Rights, held over three different distances, saw more than 4,500 participants, while nearly 1,000 athletes registered for the competitive Half Marathon (7th Azeglio Vicini Memorial), with 890 crossing the finish line. On the men’s podium were Nicholas De Nicolò, Rachid Benhamdane, and Andrea Bonoli; among the women, Federica Moroni took first place, followed by Giorgia Bonci and Giorgia Venturi.
Charity runners also played a key role, raising over €8,400 in support of the Foundation’s projects.
We were proud to take part in this meaningful initiative, bringing a touch of Wellness Week along the route to promote the values of wellbeing and solidarity. Standing alongside those who face the challenges of Alzheimer’s disease every day is a source of pride for us.
The journey now continues with the Alzheimer Marathon in 100 Squares, taking place across Italy from 15 to 30 September — a widespread campaign of events, activities and fundraising to raise awareness and support the Foundation’s projects for people with Alzheimer’s and their families.
