The Educational Value of Sport – Il Tempo Della Salute

11 November 2025

On Sunday, November 9, in Milan, as part of the festival “Il Tempo della Salute”, the panel “Children & Parents” was held, a meeting dedicated to dialogue between generations and the role of health education in the growth of young people. Among the key speakers, Federica Alberti, director of the Wellness Foundation, enthusiastically presented the Wellness 4 Education project, part of the Education Programme GEN26 of the Milano Cortina 2026 Games.

The panel also featured Francesco Caroli, national coordinator of the Italian Healthy Cities Network – WHO, promoting urban health policies; Mattia Casse, alpine skier from the Milano Cortina Olympic team, who shared how sport can become an educational lever; Domenico De Maio, Education & Culture Director of the Milano Cortina 2026 Foundation, engaged in the GEN26 education program; and Ilaria Prandoni, biologist and nutritionist at the San Donato Group, who highlighted the importance of a balanced diet and physical activity in daily life.

Wellness 4 Education is a free initiative aimed at lower secondary schools, promoted by the Wellness Foundation — a non-profit organization committed to spreading the culture and benefits of a “wellness” lifestyle — and designed to educate students on well-being and healthy habits. At the heart of the project lies a simple yet revolutionary idea: health is built every day, starting at school, through conscious daily choices involving the body, mind, relationships, and environment. In an era marked by sedentary lifestyles, overconnection, and poor eating habits, it is urgent to pass on the culture of wellness to young people: learning to take care of oneself through physical activity, balanced nutrition, and a positive mental approach.

Thanks to free and engaging educational resources, designed to stimulate both individual and group reflection, the program helps girls and boys develop awareness and become active protagonists of their own well-being, both today and in the future. During the meeting, director Federica Alberti emphasized that wellness goes beyond simple physical activity: it is culture, prevention, and inclusion. Educating for health means promoting a way of living that places the individual and their balance with the surrounding environment at the center.

The “Children & Parents” panel, held as part of Il Tempo della Salute, offered a valuable opportunity to reflect on how schools, families, and communities can work together to nurture a new generation of conscious, autonomous, and healthy citizens. Through the Wellness 4 Education project, the Wellness Foundation renews its commitment to young generations, contributing, together with the Milano Cortina 2026 program, to leaving a tangible legacy of health, awareness, and active participation.
