Over 2000 children involved: the first year of Play Active School comes to an end

25 June 2026

The first edition of Play Active School has come to an end: a project dedicated to promoting physical activity in primary schools across the province of Forlì-Cesena, created to support the educational value of movement and play from the very first years of a child’s school journey and promoted by the Forlì-Cesena Territorial School Office – Physical Education and Sport Department.

The project involved approximately 2,000 children from first, second and third grade primary school classes, with the aim of strengthening the role of physical activity as a tool for growth, wellbeing and the harmonious development of the individual. In particular, the initiative involved 71 classes across the province, including 39 classes from the Forlì area and 32 from the Cesena area.

The project was based on the awareness that movement is not only a moment of play, but a true educational opportunity capable of supporting children’s physical, cognitive, emotional and social development. Through psychomotor activities and playful movement pathways, PLAY ACTIVE SCHOOL promoted coordination, balance, body awareness, collaboration and the ability to express emotions.

During the school year, 620 hours of classroom support activities were carried out thanks to the involvement of 14 tutors with degrees in Sport Sciences, who supported teachers in delivering physical activity sessions. The training programme dedicated to teachers also received great participation, with a 99% attendance rate, providing tools and practical methodologies to bring movement into everyday school life.

Wellness Foundation was proud to be among the partners involved in the project, contributing to an initiative fully aligned with its mission: promoting wellbeing and spreading the culture of movement as a key factor for health, personal growth and quality of life. Through its support, the Foundation worked alongside schools by providing equipment kits and an operational manual, accompanying them on a journey that places children at the centre and highlights physical activity as an educational experience and an opportunity for balanced development.

Play Active School represents a concrete investment in promoting a culture of movement and healthy lifestyles, with the goal of continuing to grow and involving an increasing number of classes in the years ahead.
